Leveraging Pressure

One of the key design elements of Anchor Balloon is a special thinned and collapsible segment of the inner shaft of the balloon catheter.

As the balloon pressurizes, this collapsing locks the guidewire into place and thus provides therapeutics, like a stent, a stable rail to be advanced to the area of interest (Lesion)

STEP 1

Advance the guidewire past the lesion.

STEP 2

Advance Anchor Balloon and center it to the lesion.

STEP 3

Inflate the balloon to perform angioplasty.

STEP 4

Deflate the balloon.

STEP 5

Advance the guidewire past the lesion.

STEP 6

Inflate Anchor Balloon to lock the guidewire into place.

STEP 7

Advance the stent down the stabilized guidewire rail.

STEP 8

Center the stent at the lesion site.

STEP 9

With the stent catheter in position, deflate Anchor Balloon and thus unlock the guidewire.

STEP 10

Pull the guidewire out of Anchor Balloon.

STEP 11

Advance the guidewire further distal to the lesion.

STEP 12

Retrieve Anchor Balloon leaving just the stent catheter in place.

STEP 13

Inflate the stent balloon.

STEP 14

Retrieve the stent catheter.
